Merry Christmas

Back home its Xmas Eve, I still have to wait another day to get into the spirit of things. I am so excited to be having another white Christmas........ I love the snow, I actually really love the cold as well. It makes you feel so alive, so fresh and so determined to get to your destination to thraw right out again.
I dont think I have mentioned how in love with my snow boots i am! GOD I love these things. I did pack my Uggies (last time packing for England I didnt and I missed those bloody things sooooooooo much!) People here where them out clubbing....and I thought I was a dag wearing them to the store. Ugg boots were selling for close to $400 in Tokyo!! BUT back to my snow boots, OMG I love these shoes. They are Sorels, grey and black with wool trimming, so warm, oh so comfy, I am sure they love me back the way they hug my feet all snug and warm all day long. BEST purchase. Plus my bambi legs are gone. Damn sneakers had me slipping and sliding like a right fool.
I have applied for every job under the sun since I have arrived and to date I havent had any luck....but to balance out this disappointment I haved managed to have a hangover every day! My poor liver.
If I dont have a job in the next week I am buying a ski pass and just enjoying the snow before heading onwards.
Crikey its not like i wanna work, I love sleeping til midday!

Lucky Stars

I think my lungs are frozen.
I feel fucked to say the least.
I just walked up the steepest hill in the dark and through the snow.
BUT I consider myself the lucky one.
Right now there are people stuck on the gondala I usually take home in the evening. Its -15 degrees out there.
Today the Blackcomb gondala had a pole snap. Clean through. I dont think anyone has been killed but its pretty scary all the same. They are using cranes to get people down but its a slow and dangerous process.
I am so glad I was having a lazy day, sitting online at home applying for jobs.
BUT being an ambulance chaser that I am as soon as I heard I had to walk down to take a look. Not knowing that they werent going to let me up again..... I felt guilty but I even took photos.
It really isnt a good start to the ski season here, firstly the snow is dismal for this time of year, so the jobs are limited. Now this.
I thank my lucky stars!

Door with no entry - or exit for that matter

The first thing I noticed as I made my way up to Whistler on the 'dog' aka Greyhound buses are the homes here. Some are spectacular, there are wood cabins, bungalows, and up market condos, then there are the trailer parks stuck in amongst the new developments looking almost as glamorous as the outskirts of Cape Town, but a lot were 'the house that jack built'. I even witnessed a home with the front door on the 2nd level.......not the least bit strange unless you have no way of getting up there!! Certainly had me thinking this doorway with no staircase.......guess its one way to keep the Mormons away.
I have been lucky enough to arrive fpr the first snow fall too. Cant ask for a better welcome than that, especially when the sexy sally was waiting to greet me and sneak me into her abode. I have got my uggies on, coffee with Tim Tam in hand and about to sit down to an all time classic 'Childs Play'.
Staying awake tonight may prove challenging after my very annoying stay in a 4 person dorm last night. On entering my dorm I introduced myself to a French and German girl who explained they had to get up at 4am to leave early so would be going to bed early and apologised for the disruption in the morning. Which was fine, so being the thoughtful lass I am I got all the things I would need out my bag so I wouldnt make too much noise when I went to bed. Come 12pm I slid off my sneakers in the hallway, dis-robed as much as I could before entering, quietly climbed into my top bunk (just what you need with a crap back) and settled down. Within seconds it occurred to me none of us were sleeping until the club 3 levels down closed at 2am as the whole room was vibrating. Let me explain that the dorm has metal lockers and all kinds of other clinging instruments that remind you you always wanted to learn percussion at school - not the clarinet!
So as the club starts to die down I think, fuck finally, then all the hooligans come home from clubbing and decide to run up and down the hallway screaming........starting to pull my hair out by now. Before I know it the European girls have given up on sleeping so they get up and open the curtains and start getting ready to leave. They leave, and the curtain is forgotten.........I know you are all thinking just close the damn curtain......can I remind you I am on the TOP bunk here!! WITH a crippled back! I try desperately to crash out.....and then the bloody girl on the lower bunk decides its her turn to make a racket......come on scream with me RRRRAAAAGGGHHH. I swear she had each and every thing in her pack in a separate platic bag and I kid you not she rustled for 90 minutes! She went in and out the room 5 times........then I sat up yelled 'FUCK ME' as she walked in for the 6th time......talk about the look of death...she smiled sweetly and said sorry....yeah whatever lady! The joys of hostel life.

Are all Canadian Chiro's hot?
Good question!!
I thought for a minute God had fucked up my back so I could meet my destiny......yeah right...who believes in that shit anyway?
BUT he was hot!! Even if he did rub himself against me in inappropriate ways!!
So as you have guessed, 1 day after arriving in my dream destination I went to the chiro to seek some relief from my agony.
This is after I pushed through my labour pains, I am talking extreme pains, to make my way my plane, train and automobile to Canada!!
Vancouver....I didn't really see..except the chiro's office..very nice! BUT I am now with my primary school girlfriend Bessie, married to Greg, GREAT couple, and having a blast! Just tried some local Merlot and thumbs up!
Handing over to Bessie for an update.....can I just re-interate, we have known each other since year 4 aged 8....many things have eventuated since this time and believe me have caught up on it all!! Over to you Bessie:
"How u know IT me".....
"Oh that right, you handed over to me"
ESL....can't help it! FOB
Honesty, it's great to have Brookie here, she's a riot! Having a great time.  Some vino over great conversations, can't ask for more!  Back to you Brookie, "I hand back to you":
Oh Bess you sooooooo funny!!
LOL
Person joke, but Mother you will get it i am certain!
Bess and Greg are also kind enough to show you and Trev around Victoria when you arrive!! DO IT!
Time for some more anti-inflammatory pills, anit-histamines, panadol  and a bottle of wine!! Good night all!!

Falling apart

The minute I woke up this morning I knew it would be an average day....
Sore throat.
Sore tongue.
No appetite.......very unlike me.
Then Nazuki had a slight car accident with their lovely BMW - oops, should buff out.
Decided to cheer myself up with a game of Wii tennis - bad idea. I now feel like an old woman, my back is stuffed, my legs dont work, cold packs, hot bath, homeopathy, aromatherapy, pain killers......nothing yet. VERY concerned I wont be able to carry my pack to the airport for my flight tomorrow.....
Maybe Haagen Daaz will fix me? I will try anything. What to do, what to do.
Obe Dawg I miss you!

The Real Japan

Imagine leaves so beautiful they cant be real, varying in shades of yellow, red and orange, like a painting come to life, and you are laying in a steaming hot spring looking up. This is what I did for 4 hrs today! It is the ultimate, being surrounded by beauty whilst feeling complete contentment.
Nuding up for a real Japan experience at the onsen is a little strange at first, as is sharing a bath with other woman you have never met before, hairy bush and all. BUT it is so relaxing, you listen to the running water, the birds chirping, feel the steam rising around you as the cool wind blows. It couldnt get any better. It is just a matter of blocking out the nudity, and extreme hair surrounding you in the bath, once you master this - serenity!
Follow this experience with an amazing meal of traditional Japanese cuisine.......if I get to heaven I am so going to the Japanese version. They experience heaven every time they open their mouths!
Being back here 12 years on I am falling in love with this country again, I keep asking myself why did I take so long to return.......I could so easily come back here an live again........too easily.

Hard Yakka

One more sleep and I am on my way.
I can hardly believe the hard yakka has finally paid off, and man am I stuffed. I have been suffering from 'baby brain' for a few weeks now. You know when you forget basic stuff, drive somewhere and dont remember getting there.....becomes a real safety issue.
BUT tomorrow I can switch off, forget my responsibilities and just follow my nose.
Look out Canada here I come and I wont even remember how I got there!
